Tyler Ye, a first-generation Political Science student, is set to follow Luis Sanchez as a student regent for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system.

Ye, from Cheshire, is pursuing minors in philosophy and psychological sciences. He has served as a Student Government Association senator and president of 名媛直播鈥檚 Pre-Law Society.

As a SGA senator, Ye co-authored an open letter to the state legislature to encourage additional resources to help students navigate the challenges they face.

Ye will represent student voices on the Board of Regents, which covers the 17 CSCU campuses. He said as he steps into this role, he will continue to foster student connection and tackle student loneliness.

鈥淚 am currently more focused on continuing and finishing the projects that Luis was unable to finish this semester,鈥 Ye said, 鈥渁nd to bring more support for students via greater advocacy and bringing student feedback to the forefront.鈥

Sanchez said he advised Ye to stay informed on decisions that impact students.

"It鈥檚 important to be an active listener 鈥 do your homework on each issue, and always strive to represent the student body with integrity and empathy,鈥 Sanchez said.

Sanchez said serving as a student regent changed his outlook on the inner workings of higher education.

鈥淚t helped me understand how state policy, higher education systems, and politics all are interconnected,鈥 Sanchez said.
