About the Center

History

The LGBTQ Center celebrated its opening in the Fall of 2009. It was created through the efforts of the One in Ten Committee, a group composed of students, faculty, and staff. The Center originated from a conversation about the need for a welcoming and supportive safe space for LGBT students on campus. As of 2022 the Center has been in service to the ÃûæÂÖ±²¥ community for 13 years.

Mission

Under the Office for Equity & Inclusion (OEI), the LGBTQ Center strives to provide a welcoming, and safe space for all students, faculty, and staff by offering social justice focused programming, trainings, and professional development opportunities.

Vision

The LGBTQ Centers vision is to be a welcoming space for where all students, faculty and staff feel welcomed, seen and celebrated. We stand up against discrimination and educate to bring awareness and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community on campus.
